What Does Heidi Klum Support?

Heidi Klum is putting her supermodel status to good charitable use. With an eye for both high fashion and women’s health issues, she also demonstrates a knack for combining the two. She has made a habit of donating the dresses she has worn to assorted celebrity functions to charity. Her Oscar gown went to the Red Dress Program, and Klum also modeled at a fundraiser for that charity, which raises awareness about heart disease in women.

Another of her garments went to the ‘27 Dresses’ auction benefitting the Lavender Trust Breast Cancer Charity. (The Lavender Trust at Breast Cancer Care raises money specifically to fund information and support for younger women with breast cancer. It was founded in 1998 by Justine Picardie and Beth Wagstaff, in memory of Justine’s sister Ruth, who died of breast cancer at the age of 33. It is the only fund in the UK dedicated to addressing the particular needs of this age group.).

Heidi also found time to attend Madonna’s gala for Raising Malawi (volunteer organization which helps orphans in one of the poorest countries in the world (Malawi) by providing water, food, medical care and schooling.)

She’s also a supporter of UNICEF (for every child---Health, Education, Equality, Protection), skin cancer charity IMCG (NYU School of Medicine’s Interdisciplinary Melanoma Cooperative Group for which she modeled a t-shirt), and the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation (creating a future of hope for children and families worldwide by eradicating pediatric AIDS, providing care and treatment to people with HIV/AIDS, and accelerating the discovery of new treatments for other serious and life-threatening pediatric illnesses).

I mentioned Tyra Banks and her wealth and wanted to also touch base with you about how she helps people. Here's a list:

Elsa Peretti (born May 1, 1940) is an Italian jewelry designer. She was born in Florence, Italy, the daughter of a well-to-do Roman family. Educated at Volbicela School in Rome, with a diploma in interior design. She moved to New York in the 1960s, where she began designing jewelry for a handful of top designers, including Halston, Oscar De La Renta, Giorgio di Sant'Angelo and Tiffany. She designed the containers for Halston's fragrance and cosmetic lines, and many of Tiffany's best-selling items including the famous 'teardrop' necklaces and 'thumb' vases in white. Both are examples of her simple organic aesthetic. Another of her popular designs is the infamous bean which come in a necklace, bracelet, earings and rings.

Tyra Banks & $23 Million

Los Angeles, CA (CNS) - Supermodels Tyra Banks and Heidi Klum both have one or two things in common with each other, apart from being catwalk beauties. They also top Forbes' primetime TV's top-earning women list.

The two reality series hosts and Victoria's Secret angels, one former and the other one current, are numbers 1 and 2 at the new list compiled by the magazine. Banks, who earned $23 million from June 1, 2007 to June 1, 2008, is ahead of her runway pal by $9 million.

The list is ranked according to estimated earnings, not just from their TV jobs, but also from production, movie, endorsement, and fashion ventures in a span of one year. For the women who are lucky enough to have made it on the list, their earnings aren't just limited to their per episode salary.

Here's the top three of Forbes' 20 Top-Earning Women in Primetime TV:
1) Tyra Banks - $23 million
2) Heidi Klum - $14 million
3) Katherine Heigl - $13 million

You don't have to be a star to be wealthy, so that's not why I list them, but they are well known. There are women who are pretty unknown who are making the big bucks and I think I'll look into that for another blog because I'd love to see how they live and what they like.

Paris Hilton's New Line of Handbags & Accessories

Speaking about Paris Hilton, she also enjoys starting a business. DFNI Online reports about the upcoming debut of Paris’s line of handbags called The Confidence.

"The Confidence leathergoods collection is soon to be launched at Manchester and Hamburg airports. US celebrity Paris Hilton’s new collection of handbags, purses, suitcases and key rings is to be launched at Manchester and Hamburg airports. The Confidence leathergoods range is already available in eight domestic locations in Asia, with prices ranging from €50 to €150 ($73 to $221), and will be available at The Nuance Group’s Fashion Gallery store at Manchester airport terminal one from the end of September.The collection was created by Hilton in partnership with Danish designers and was unveiled earlier this month in Copenhagen. Hilton said on the occasion that she expects the range to be available in 400 outlets worldwide, with the Middle East and Asia among the next targets. Paris Hilton Handbags & Accessories vice-president of business development and creative director Jens Peter Friss told DFNIonline that the Confidence range will be rolled out to international airports worldwide in 2009.
